Breast lift surgery is a process of removing excess skin and tissue, and artfully closing the incisions to restore youthful contours to sagging breasts. Dr. John W. Tyrone performs breast lift surgeries using sophisticated surgical techniques to minimize downtime and discomfort. He provides patients with explicit recovery instructions to ensure beautiful results providing long-term satisfaction. Dr. Tyrone takes the time to explain the recovery process to patients before they decide to undergo surgery so they can make an informed decision about having a breast lift, and make the necessary arrangements with family and work for ample recovery time. Immediately following Surgery
Dr. Tyrone performs breast lift procedures on an outpatient basis using twilight sedation. In other words, you will be in a state of deep relaxation and near-sleep throughout surgery, and you will be able to return home the same day. You will need to arrange for someone to drive you home after your procedure. Most patients will experience soreness for about three to four days, and Dr. Tyrone will work with you to determine a pain management strategy. We advise our patients to take a week off of work to rest. During that time, it is especially important to avoid strenuous activities, especially those that could place any degree of strain on your incisions.
For approximately two weeks following your breast lift procedure, you will be required to wear a compression garment or surgical bra to help reduce any swelling or bruising. If necessary, Dr. Tyrone will place drainage tubes near the incisions to prevent fluid buildup. These can typically be removed in the first few days following surgery.
Returning to Your Daily Routine
Following surgery, most women can return to light daily activities after the first week, but should wait about three weeks before resuming vigorous exercise. It is important to begin reintroducing normal day-to-day activities slowly. We advise patients to avoid any heavy lifting for at least six weeks after breast lift surgery. You may experience swelling in the treatment area for several months after your surgery, and Dr. Tyrone may advise continued use of a compression garment during that time.
How Long until I Experience the Final Results?
Generally speaking, breast lift patients can expect to see the full results of breast lift surgery within about three months of surgery. However, it is important to understand that because no two breast lift surgeries are the same, every woman can expect a different recovery timeline. Dr. Tyrone will take great care to help you understand what to expect following surgery, and will schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your recovery.
